Where did the summer go?
I am sure you are all asking yourselves the same thing.
I know it's been a month since I last blogged but I've been Instagram-ing! I don't have internet at home right now and it's just oh so easy to post pictures, I'll try to get back into the groove again soon. For now make sure you're following me on Instagram. I post almost daily.

Guess what?
I have some exciting news!
I got a job! I'll be teaching 4th grade this year! (Pending board approval)
These past few weeks were some very tough weeks. If you've been reading my sporadic posts, you know I wanted to move to San Antonio and teach there. I applied at a few districts and nothing happened. I realized that all my were prayers were
"I want to live ______."
"I want to teach ______ grade.
"I want to work in _____ district."
I wasn't asking God what He wanted. I say I want His will for my life but I don't want to let go.
So I applied here. I told God if this is where He wants me then I'll get a job here. Long story short, I turned in my application on a Tuesday, got a call for an interview on Wednesday, had interview on Friday and by Monday, all my references had been called.
My first teacher interview ever and I got the job.
A big thank you to everyone who shared tips and advice on Instagram. Y'all eased my nerves and were of great help!
Now onto currently...
It's August and it's my birthday month! Whoo!

THINKING:
WANTING:
I want nothing more but to be a blessing in the lives of the students who will be in my classroom. I believe God wants me here and at that school for a reason.
So I'm letting go...
NEEDING:
My room is a blank canvas right now. And I'm so excited! I'm allowed to cover the entire walls, top to bottom! :D
B2S MUST HAVES:
Being that this is my first year, I'm not sure what I must have.
Feel free to share items you think I need to help my first year run smoothly.

ReplyDeleteDo people still listen to the Backstreet Boys?? J/K! Congrats on your first teaching job! You are so right about trusting God's plans. I have had a couple of teaching jobs that I really struggled with, but now I can see why He sent me there.
ReplyDeleteHope you have an AWESOME first year!!!
Congratulations on your job! What an awesome testimony to what happens when you let go and let God. I teach fourth grade too, and something I cannot seem to have enough of is book baskets to display titles. I prefer baskets to just having it on the shelves. Hope your first year is great!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have so much fun decorating. :)

Oh Bren, I'm so glad you got the job. I almost mssg'd you a while back, we needed a 3rd Math teacher, but I didn't think you wanted to move to the Dallas area. Aren't you in Austin? I do love SA, though. I understand why you wanted to move there!!!

Congrats on your new job! I remember how absolutely ecstatic I was when I got my first teaching job. Never lose that feeling. :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as B2S must-haves, I think you definitely need comfy shoes. I didn't realize until I started teaching, but I'm pretty sure God put 80 year old feet on this 25 year old body. After my first day of student teaching, I went home and told my mother that it felt like my feet were on fire. :( So investing in comfy shoes is a must for me. I like Born, Toms, and my new favorite is Volatile.
If you're anything like me, you probably like to plan {at least a little}, so you'll want a good calendar {or two or three..}. This is the time of year I stock up on "calendar essentials" -- highlighers, fun/colored pens, etc. I recently got addicted to Pilot erasable pens. No smudging like pencils, but you can erase them cleanly. I call that a B2S miracle. ;)
Best of luck with your new job! I hope you have a fabulous year!!
